Olympic Fever Wrap Up

While in Connecticut for the better part of this week, I got to know an awful lot about the 2010 Winter Olympics. I learned a few things:
1. I now want to learn how to skate.
2. Curling is oddly fascinating.
3. Metal and winter olympic sports go hand in hand.
Observe:

and...

Both of these things actually happened.

The best news of the year.

Max Headroom is finally coming to DVD.

"Max Headroom" starred Matt Frewer as a reporter whose mind is downloaded into a computer to create a virtual clone who exists in the digital world. Amanda Pays, Jeffrey Tambor and W. Morgan Sheppard also star in the series, which ran for 14 episodes on Cinemax and ABC in 1987 and 1988. Set in the near future, "Max Headroom" depicted a world of television run amok.

Shout! Factory has a "Max Headroom" complete-series DVD set slated for August, according to a spokesperson. Episodes are being transferred from their original elements to provide the best quality, and Shout! Factory is planning a robust range of extras for the set. Bonus content may include the original U.K. telefilm 20 Minutes Into the Future, upon which the series is based, though nothing has been confirmed. Max Headroom also appeared in a series of Coca-Cola commercials in the 1980s, raising speculation such content may also be fodder for bonus material, but Shout! Factory said planning the extras is in the early stage.

After all these years I can return that bootleg DVD set I borrowed from Clay.

Dolph Lundgren: 2010's King of all Media

I'm not sure how to even summarize this. It's Swedish. It stars Dolph Lundgren. He rides a segway. He abducts children. He hangs out with a black metal chick. I assume his character's name is Capiche.
This is everything that is lacking in American filmmaking today.

Nine Inch Nails Tuesday

I've noticed many blogs do some kind of theme things for certain days of the week.
Fan Fiction Friday. Music Review Wednesday. Self Aggrandizing Sunday.
So to continue that fine tradition allow me to present to you, America:
NINE INCH NAILS TUESDAYS
Are you excited? I know I am.
Starting this thing off is a self filmed performance from NIN drummer Josh Freese demonstrating how awesome his job is.

80's Toy Flashback

I'm surprised this hadn't already existed, but for those of you who can spare a moment to recall childhood glory from the 80's via action figure packaging art, this one's for you.
This guy loaded a ton of pics from the backs of his figure's cards to his blog*. So take a sweet sweet walk down memory lane. And this guy had it all.
Color me nostalgic.

*You may have to scroll down some, but it's all there.

Hidden Lizard City? Under L.A.?

Here's a purported map of an ancient, abandoned Reptillian City under the streets of my adopted home of Los Angeles.
Here's where you can read all about Geckoburg.

This is neat. An interactive chart with the size scale of literally everything.
